Most often the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) is used to serve warrants where there is a high possibility that someone has a history of using, or owning, dangerous weapons. The team also gets most of its calls on people that have barricaded themselves, and possibly innocent bystanders, with a threat of bodily harm.
